It’s thrilling to see a photographer’s work in this category. Secondly though, it brings up the issue of the archival nature of photographs. Ansel’s pictures survived because they are silv…er salts on glass; they will last for hundreds of years. What about your digital files? With the forced obsolescence of ever evolving technologies and the fragile nature of digital media, how can we insure that our files will last for future generations?

When I was coming up as a photographer, Kodachrome was the Holy Grail-the Cadillac of film. It was saturated, contrasty, sharp and spectacularly beautiful.

Photography is the medium of storytelling in our world today. We live in a ubiquitous swirl of images with few of the thousands that reach our eyes everyday ever reaching the level of meaning to us. It is our goal at BTP to open a dialog in our workshops that teaches strong technical fundamentals, yet also opens up the photograph as a meaningful act of visual language.
